Last night Fiona Pâtissière made its first Cambridge appearance in the form of a pop-up macaron shop at one of the city’s finest independent fashion retailers, Boudoir Femme.
The pop-up shop formed part of an of evening of indulgence as lucky customers were invited to browse the new Christmas arrivals, snapping up a little treat or adding it to the wish list. With Kir Royal cocktails flowing and free macaron-tastings provided (by me, of course!) customers were in for a real treat!
With our immediate French connection, it was entirely appropriate that Boudoir Femme should form the backdrop to my little pâtisserie venture, and so I was thrilled when Pippa Sanderson, the fabulous mastermind behind Boudoir Femme, agreed to my setting up store. So, for one night only I made my appearance with macarons in all sorts of flavours: pistachio, salted caramel, blackcurrant and violet, rosehip and chestnut (I harvested the rosehips myself; I still have the scratch wounds on my hand to prove it), hazelnut praline, apricot and pistachio, jasmine and finally, banana, passionfruit and ginger. Having never entered the Cambridge market before I had no idea how well the macarons would sell so was a little nervous.
Well, I am so pleased to report that Cambridge loves macarons! I sold out of gift boxes within an hour and was completely cleared out by the end of the evening. Amazing! Thank you to everyone that came along. Your support and encouragement is greatly felt. You are amazing.
I now have the confidence to explore the Cambridge market further and can share with you that I should be popping up in a venue near you again very soon (if you live in Cambridge that is…world domination is still on the to-do list though).
So, until we meet again! Or as the French would have it: Au revoir!
