Following a choc-tastic Easter there could surely be no better way to keep those sugar levels happily soaring than with a crafty evening of gingerbread decorating and gin quaffing.
This most recent gin-soaked sugarcraft demonstration took place at the stunning Varsity Hotel and Spa in Cambridge, where I guided 18 lucky guests through the making of miniature gingerbread houses in a delightful Spring theme.
Seated in the hotel’s ‘SIX’ restaurant, with its spectacular 360° panoramic views over the Cambridge roof-tops and beyond, there could be no more inspiring venue in which to craft our little edible houses.
Alongside the decorating and gingerbread nibbling, local gin expert, Tom Arnold, challenged guests to holding their piping bags steady by providing three different gins, as well as a gin cocktail to wash down the crumbs; Hansel and Gretel would have been in their (inebriated) element! Everyone did an amazing job with their gingerbread houses, with one guest even managing to construct a highly-decorated speed boat with some clever re-engineering of the original template.
I’m starting to think Mother’s Ruin needs a rebrand as the fuel of cakey inspiration! Cheers!
